If you really want to be learning 3D, Digital Tutors is the way to go. I have been on there for a while and I have nothing but great things to say about it. As a generalist, it seems that you have to stay on top of your game at all times and not take anything for granted. I have also found things like Autodesk youtube channel to be helpful along with a new resource at http://www.aleso3d.com. That site has a brilliant guy that can really do some nice lighting using Vray. One last resource would be Brandon. He works with Freddie Wong and has some nice 3DS Max tips. These are just a few resources that I use to help my projects look better.
