Description: Digital Hyper was hired by Sporting news to create 3 out of 8 animations for an Old Spice 8 Bit Campaign. These videos needed a quick turnaround and needed to go along with the first one created by Sporting news.
Digital Hyper was tasked to recreate the sport players within this 8 bit style and keep consistent style from their original start. The process for this broke down from creating the characters initially in photoshop and then taking over to illustrator to have vector art to work with. At first, I was going to create these characters with sprite sheets, but that would have been a bit more labor intensive, so instead, created body parts that could move. From there I created simple moves to keep the feel of the nintendo style. This could be done many ways, but for this particular campaign, this seemed to be the quickest method.
The Old Spice 8 Bit Campaign was a new style for Digital Hyper Studios. Being this was the first time creating this style, it had many challenges on the front end. But in the end, between illustrator and After Effects, I was able to complete all the videos assigned to Digital Hyper within their due dates. While it’s not the most fancy art in the world, it was a fun project to work on.
